Course 13101 – PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

(Grades 10-12)

Prerequisite: Materials Processing

Production Systems primary focus is on Manufacturing. The students will work in cooperative-
learning groups to mass-produce products for either “Toys-for-Tots” and/or “School and Community
Enhancement” programs. Students will typically have time to complete small personal projects.

Manufacturing topics include:
1) Introduction to Manufacturing: What is manufacturing? The development of manufacturing, How
is manufacturing accomplished?, Workers and safety
2) Research and Development: Ideas are powerful, Selection products and resources, Designing and
engineering
3) Production: Starting and organizing a Manufacturing company, Planning and preparing a
production system, Producing Products, Marketing
