Athletic Trainer

Licensed athletic trainers are bound to provide athletic training services in compliance with Pennsylvania state law and the rules and regulations which are set forth by the State Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine. Licensed athletic trainers can ONLY provide athletic training services under the direction of a licensed medical professional.

Licensed medical professionals in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania include:

• Physician (M.D. or D.O.) 
• Dentist (D.M.D. or D.D.S.) 
• Podiatrist (D.P.M.) 

A written medical document is required for any physician appointment pertaining to an illness or injury that has compromised athletic participation.  Written documents should provide medical clearance for full athletic participation or provide restrictions and/or protocol for treatment by the licensed athletic trainer.
