Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Penns Valley Area School District. The Board supports and encourages the participation of parents/guardians and community residents to enhance the educational, co-curricular and extracurricular programs of the district.

Any volunteer who plans on working in the buildings during the school day, or volunteering at an after-hours school-sponsored event will need to become a Registered Volunteer.  This includes, but not limited to:  field trip chaperones, volunteering to assist in classroom celebrations, school assemblies, etc.

District volunteer coaches are required to have their FBI fingerprints completed.  Volunteer coaches will also need to be Board approved.

Registered volunteers need to complete and submit the following:

1) Volunteer Form
2) PA Child Abuse History Certification
3) PA Criminal History Clearance
4) Act 153 Affidavit (if you have lived in PA for 10 years or more) *does not apply to volunteer coaches*
5) FBI Fingerprints (if you have lived in PA less than 10 years)
6) Results of TB test  (no older than 2 years)
7) Volunteer Policy (please read)

Completed paperwork can be turned in to your child's school or dropped off/mailed to:  PVASD Volunteer Coordinator at 80 Town Lane  Rebersburg, PA 16872.

For more information on how to get involved, contact our volunteer coordinator, Christin Martz at 814-422-2006 or by email: [email protected]

Effective July 1, 2015:  Per PA State Act 153, all registered volunteers will need to update their clearances every 5 years.  If your current clearances are more than 5 years old at any point of the school year, you will need to update your Criminal History check, Child Abuse clearance and Act 153 Affidavit before you can be re-approved for next year.  In addition, if you have lived in Pennsylvania less than 10 years, you are required to submit an FBI clearance as well.   If you already have a TB test on file with the District, it will NOT need to be updated.
